Chelsea team-mates Danny Drinkwater and Tammy Abraham showed their support for Rudiger by liking his post.

Rudiger has not featured for the Blues since limping out of a 1-1 draw away to Manchester United at the end of April.

It had been hoped that the 26-year-old may return to action at the same venue, with Chelsea set to begin their 2019-20 Premier League campaign at Old Trafford on August 11.

But both Chelsea and Rudiger are cautious about him rushing back. After undergoing surgery earlier this year, Rudiger is prepared to stay patient and is therefore expected to miss Chelsea’s Premier League opener.

He will also sit out the UEFA Super Cup clash with Liverpool in Istanbul on August 14 if he does not feel 100 per cent ready.
