Chelsea and Man City target Romelu Lukaku insists he is 'STAYING' at Inter Milan

Chelsea and Man City dealt huge blow in pursuit of Romelu Lukaku as Belgian striker insists he is ‘STAYING’ at Inter Milan and has ‘already had contact with the new manager’… with Simone Inzgahi set to take over

  • Lukaku scored 24 goals and grabbed 11 assists in 36 matches for Inter in Serie A
  • His impressive form led to interest from both Chelsea and Manchester City
  • But he has knocked back their interest, claiming he ‘feels good’ at Inter

Romelu Lukaku has confirmed he will be staying at Inter Milan this summer, knocking back both Chelsea and Manchester City in their pursuit.

Lukaku shone for Inter as they ended Juventus‘ dominance in Serie A and sealed their first Italian top-flight title in 11 years, scoring 24 goals and producing 11 assists in 36 matches.

His brilliant form led to Chelsea and City making a move for him, but the 28-year-old insists he ‘feels good’ at Inter and has already had discussions with the new manager following Antonio Conte’s decision to walk away.

‘Yes, I am staying,’ he told Dutch broadcaster VTM.

‘I’ve already had contact with the man who normally becomes our new manager. Maybe I shouldn’t say that yet… but it was a very positive conversation.’

‘There’s also the challenge of doing it again [winning the league with Inter]. I feel good at Inter.’

After Conte sensationally quit Inter due to frustrations over a lack of finances this summer, the San Siro outfit have been searching for a new manager.

However, Simone Inzaghi has been heavily tipped to take over in the San Siro dugout, having departed Lazio just last week.

Lukaku has become one of the best strikers in world football following his move to Italy from England.

Lukaku moved to the Premier League in 2011 when he joined Chelsea from Belgian side Anderlecht but failed to make an instant impact and was shipped out on loan to West Brom and then Everton.

Then after joining Everton on a permanent deal, Lukaku shone at Goodison Park – netting 53 times across three seasons.

His fine form earned him a big-money £75million move to Manchester United in the summer of 2017 but he struggled to deliver on a consistent basis before eventually moving onto Inter, where he hasn’t looked back.

Chelsea are on the lookout for a new striker this summer following their Champions League triumph, with owner Roman Abramovich believing the Belgian would take the club to the next level – according to Eurosport.

Meanwhile, City are in the market for a new striker having lost Sergio Aguero on a free transfer to Barcelona and seeing Gabriel Jesus fail to stake a claim as their first choice frontman.
