Cavs GM Koby Altman, optimistic despite 50 losses, looks to future with Kevin Love, Collin Sexton

Koby Altman still sees Kevin Love as a big part of the Cavs’ future, but he wasn’t ready to discuss an extension for Collin Sexton during his year-end news conference Friday.

The Cavs general manager spoke for an hour during his session, which came nearly two weeks after the season concluded. He said he wanted everyone to get away and decompress a bit before he addressed the 22-50 finish that left the Cavs with the worst record in the NBA over the past three seasons (60-157).

“There is just a lot of optimism about where we are as a franchise,” said Altman, who joined the front office in 2012 and rose to GM in 2017. “To be honest with you, it’s really tied to the young core that we put together.
