Cavaliers begin in-market group workouts focused on building strong foundation


Over the next week and a half, J.B. Bickerstaff has two goals for the Cleveland Cavaliers’ in-market bubble. The first is to build a foundation. 

Bickerstaff was 11 games into his tenure as head coach and the Cavs had found a bit of momentum when their season was cut short in March. Yet, relying on the memory of that momentum won’t be enough, especially with next season’s start date still uncertain. 

The Cavs were hoping for an invite to the NBA bubble in Orlando, and when that didn’t happen, they pushed for some sort of collective get-together that might include scrimmages between the eight teams left out. While these in-market group workouts — with six planned workout sessions and additional voluntary shooting or workouts available for players each evening — aren’t the perfect solution, it is what the Cavs need to build on what they had started to establish on the court and move forward.
