Carlos Correa’s walk-off HR moves Astros halfway to 3-0 comeback in ALCS

The pivotal moment

Jake Kaplan, Astros beat writer: Correa, who has a flair for the dramatic, now has more home runs in the postseason (six) than he did in the regular season (five). This is the second consecutive ALCS in which he has hit a walk-off home run. Correa had only two previous hits in this series, though one was a home run.

Why the Astros could push the series to Game 7

Kaplan: Their best pitcher (Framber Valdez) will start in Game 6. The Astros hitters made a lot of hard contact against Blake Snell in Game 1, and some of their best hitters have fared well against him in the past, too. This is definitely now a series.

Why, despite consecutive losses, the Rays are still in control

Eno Sarris, senior writer: It doesn’t look great to lose two in a row to the Astros, but the Rays still have the upper hand. Not only do they only need to win one of the next two games, but now they’re going to Snell on decent rest, with Diego Castillo and Pete Fairbanks as the ace relievers ready to possibly put three innings together on Friday. As long as the Rays can score enough to win one game, they should be able to take the series … eventually.
