Cardi B slammed after hosting nearly 40 people for Thanksgiving: 'It was lit!'



Cardi B faced a wave of backlash on social media after she boasted about having nearly 40 people over for Thanksgiving during the coronavirus pandemic.

“12 kids and 25 adults over the holidays. It was lit!!” the 28-year-old rapper tweeted to her 15.3 million followers Sunday.

The tweet followed weeks of politicians and public health officials urging Americans to avoid travel and forgo large gatherings during the holidays amid a widespread increase in COVID-19 cases and a wave of renewed lockdown restrictions.

Cardi B was immediately accused of flouting the rules.

“Sorry my bad wasn’t trying to make nobody feel bad,” she responded. “I just had my family in my home for the first time and it felt so good & uplifted me. I spent soo much money getting every1 tested but it felt worth it. I wasn’t trying to offend no1.”

On Thursday, Cardi B shared photos of her Thanksgiving evening on her Instagram, showing her husband, 28-year-old rapper Offset, and various family members dancing inside their Atlanta home, People reported. According to USA Today, Offset also shared a video on Instagram of himself, his wife and 10 others dancing without masks, USA Today reported.

Cardi B said her critics are just looking for an excuse to be offended.

“People be trying tooo hard to be offended,” she tweeted. “I wonder how they survive the real world.”
