‘Can’t bully the bully’: Saints turn chippy Seahawks game into hard-fought defensive win


SEATTLE — The Saints weren’t going to be bullied by the Seahawks.

Not on this night. Not during a “grit your teeth and bear it” type of game that felt like more of a slog than a primetime Monday night affair due to its rainy and windy conditions.

There was frustration, sure. Saints quarterback Jameis Winston and wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith yelled at each other on the sidelines. Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore appeared to be headed for an ejection due to tensions between him and Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf that led to him getting two personal foul penalties.

But at the end of the night, it was the Saints who calmly dealt the final blow to the Seahawks (2-5) with back-to-back sacks in the final minute of their 13-10 win at Lumen Field. Of course, it didn’t hurt that players such as defensive end Marcus Davenport and offensive linemen Terron Armstead and Erik McCoy returned to the lineup, while newly signed kicker
