Interpol does a “drive by” at the pony treat station (aka Clockers’ stand) at San Luis Rey Downs
Grade 1 winner and Sovereign Award champion Interpol has joined the ranks of Doug O’Neill’s racing stable at San Luis Rey Downs as a lead pony, the trainer announced on Facebook this week. An 8-year-old son of English Channel, Interpol won five of his 16 starts to earn just shy of half a million dollars on the track and retired in 2017.
“It appears that he has quickly taken to finding the peppermint window (also known as the Clocker at San Luis Rey Downs),” the Facebook post reads. “Welcome Interpol aka Po Po.”
Interpol was saddled for his 2015 G1 Northern Dancer Turf victory by conditioner Sid Attard, and finished up his career in the barn of Jimmy Toner.
