Elmwood, the brand design consultancy, is to launch an accelerator that will bring creative and technology healthcare start-ups together to collaborate in a 12-week programme.

The initial Elmwood LaunchPod – taking place at Elmwood’s studio in Leeds – will invite consumer health start-ups to develop products and services that help people manage their health to improve their quality of life.

Four to six participants will receive insights from a community of marketers and creative designers, as well as free workspace and access to Elmwood’s global clients who could act as mentors or investors.

Founded in 1977, Elmwood is a brand design consultancy that offers services in brand strategy and insight, brand identity, creative, design, and content.

It has offices in Leeds, London, New York, Singapore, and Melbourne, and has worked in a variety of sectors including retail, government, sport, media, fast moving consumer goods, and business-to-business (B2B).

Sarah Dear, managing partner at Elmwood and managing director of Elmwood LaunchPod, commented: “This is a unique project bringing together businesses with breakthrough ideas propelled by the power of design.

“The future inevitably starts with an idea and some of the most innovative ideas are found among start-up businesses.

“Elmwood prides itself on being at the intersection of creativity and innovation and we’re looking forward to supporting the aspirations of health-focused entrepreneurs who are eager to develop the next generation of consumer health experiences into successful businesses that help improve people’s lives.”

Elmwood LaunchPod opens for applications on Monday 16 April and closes on Monday 23 July. Find out more about the programme and enter here.
