Bucs’ coach Bruce Arians fined $50,000 for slapping S Andrew Adams helmet

The NFL fined Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians $50,000 on Wednesday following him slapping the helmet of Bucs safety Andrew Adams during Sunday’s game.

“I’ll appeal it,” Arians said during his press conference on Wednesday. “It ain’t got nothing to do with the game, so we’re good.”

The incident happened during the second half of the Bucs’ 31-15 victory over the Eagles, right after Tampa Bay recovered a muffed punt return by the Eagles. FOX’s TV cameras caught Arians coming onto the field and slapping Adams in the helmet near the sideline. Arians said on Monday he did not regret it, and that the physical contact was to avoid his team getting a penalty.

“No, and I’d seen enough dumb. You can’t pull guys out of a pile,” he said. “We just got a big play, great field position, and he’s trying to pull a guy out of a pile and I was trying to knock him off that guy so he didn’t get a penalty.”
