Milwaukee Bucks executive Alex Lasry announced that he is running for the United States Senate on Wednesday, vowing to bring a “fresh perspective” to U.S. politics.
Lasry is looking to take over the seat currently occupied by Republican Ron Johnson. He is the second candidate in the Democratic field.
The 33-year-old previously worked for the Barack Obama Administration and played a role in getting Milwaukee to host the 2020 Democratic National Convention, among other accolades.
He is the son of Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry and is the team’s senior vice president. He plans to take a leave of absence from that role during his campaign. It’s unclear who will take over the role in his absence.
