Brentford boss Thomas Frank admits a move to a big club would 'probably not make my life better' in warning to Man United with Erik ten Hag's job under threat

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has addressed his immediate future at the club after being named as a potential candidate to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.

The Bees boss was given a taste of Old Trafford life last weekend when his side took a deserved lead before collapsing in the second-half as United came from behind to claim a valuable victory.

Impressing across six incredible years at the club during which time Frank ended Brentford’s agonising wait for Premier League promotion and has since kept the club in the division, makes it no surprise to see top sides keeping tabs.

United are believed to be one of the interested parties should they ever decide to part ways with Ten Hag following the club’s worst-start to a top-flight campaign, but Frank has reassured Brentford supporters that he isn’t considering any future move at the moment.

With an ambition to make Brentford a consistent top-half Premier League team, the Danish coach cut a cool and collected figure as he doused suggestions that joining a ‘big club’ would improve his life.

‘If I ever leave Brentford, in the future it will happen. Who knows what will happen in the future,’ Frank told the Sports Agent podcast.

‘I am probably at one of the best clubs in the world, end of discussion, in terms of alignment, leadership, culture, everything. Why should I ever leave this place? But things can happen.

‘You can want new inspiration, maybe you find another inspiration at your club and you stay for , you never know. For sure if I ever got the offer to go to a big club and I decided to go there, it would probably not make my life better.

‘I think we all know that. Maybe it is a challenge you need to try. I don’t know. It is not something I am thinking about. You don’t know how it would be if you walked into another job. Maybe it will be even better than it is here. I don’t know that.

‘I am just looking at the exposure on certain managers. I don’t think that is part of the football they love. I am happy here. What will happen in the future will happen and we will take it from there,’ said Frank.

Frank’s reassurance to Bees supporters comes as Mail Sport revealed Man United have also identified former Barcelona boss Xavi as a top managerial candidate.

The Spaniard is out of work since leaving the club in bizarre circumstances at the end of last season having initially U-turned on his previous decision to part ways.

Talks have been held with the ex-Catalan coach as United continue to assess all of their options should Ten Hag have his contract terminated.
