Breeders’ Cup Turf Contender Magical Booked To No Nay Never For 2020

Prominent Irish sire No Nay Never gained two big additions to his 2020 book of mares, in Breeders’ Cup Turf contender Magical and Hermosa, winner of the English and Irish 1,000 Guineas, Thoroughbred Daily News reports.

Magical, a 4-year-old Galileo filly, has won nine of 21 career starts for the Coolmore partnership, earning $4,321,653. She finished second by three-quarters of a length to Enable in last year’s Breeders’ Cup Turf at Churchill Downs, and this year’s Turf will be her 10th start of the season.

Magical comes into this year’s Breeders’ Cup off a win in the Group 1 QIPCO Champion Stakes British Champions Middle Distance, shortly after running fifth in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. She has also racked up wins this year in the G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup, the G2 Mooresbridge Stakes, and the G3 Alleged Stakes.

Hermosa, a 3-year-old by Galileo that’s also owned by the Coolmore partnership, has been retired from racing, ending her career with four wins in 13 starts for earnings of $1,148,803.

In addition to her classic wins in England and Ireland, Hermosa also won the G3 Weld Park Stakes during her juvenile season.

Both fillies have been conditioned by Aidan O’Brien.

No Nay Never, an 8-year-old son of Scat Daddy, stands at Coolmore Stud in Ireland. He won four of six starts during his on-track career, including the G1 Prix Morny in France, the G2 Norfolk Stakes in England, and the G3 Woodford Stakes in the U.S.
