Three of Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert’s four Breeders’ Cup pre-entries worked on Sunday morning, with Dirt Mile contender Improbable going a best-of-the-morning five furlongs in :59.20. Rafael Bejarano will be riding the City Zip colt for the first time as Mike Smith has opted to stay with race favorite Omaha Beach, who defeated Improbable by a length when they last met in the Arkansas Derby.
Eight Rings went a half-mile in :47.20 for Baffert in his final preparation for Friday’s Juvenile, which promises to be an exciting contest with the likes of Dennis’ Moment and Maxfield also in the lineup.
In this edition of the Breeders’ Cup News Minute, Ray Paulick also reports that Classic contender Code of Honor went a leisurely half-mile at Belmont Park before heading West. He also has a DRF Formulator fact about Bill Mott-trained Yoshida, another Classic pre-entrant.
