Animals in Nottingham were put in danger after a piece of bread with pins hidden inside was left at a popular dog walking spot.

A dog walker was shocked to discover the ‘booby trap’ at Lenton Recreation Ground in Lenton during a Sunday stroll.

It comes days after a little boy discovered sausage rolls laced with spikes in a park in Hampshire.

Locals have warned pet owners of ‘evil individuals out there’ – although some have suggested the bread could have been stapled onto a tree as part of an ongoing Reddit trend.

The dangerous item has been removed, but there are fears there could be other pieces nearby.

Nottingham City Stray Dogs posted online: ‘Please use caution when walking your dogs at Lenton Recreation ground/ Lenton Boulevard side.
