Braves incensed about umpire’s call and review as Ronald Acuña Jr. feats continue

It wasn’t a strong throw from Marcell Ozuna, but it was good enough for Braves catcher Travis d’Arnaud to catch the ball, slide over and block the plate as he applied the tag on the Phillies’ Alec Bohm trying to score from third on a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning of a tie game Sunday night.

Or so the Braves and their fans thought. And most undoubtedly still do, despite home-plate umpire Lance Barrett calling Bohm safe and the replay crew in New York upholding the call after the Braves challenged.

The run proved decisive for the Phillies, who averted a series sweep with a 7-6 decision that snapped the Braves’ four-game winning streak and left Braves manager Brian Snitker and some of his players incensed about the call and about the replay system in general.
