Brandon Scherff ruled out after being helped off field with knee injury

Washington Football Team right guard Brandon Scherff was helped off the field with a knee injury in the second quarter against the Arizona Cardinals. Scherff was injured when Cardinals defensive end Angelo Blackson was blocked into his leg by right tackle Morgan Moses.

Scherff has been ruled out for the remainder of the game. Wes Schweitzer replaced him in the lineup.

Scherff’s injury highlighted a rough first half for Washington. They trail the Cardinals 20-0 after turning over the football twice. Quarterback Dwayne Haskins has been sacked four times.

Any missed time for Scherff could be devastating for Washington, as he has been a stalwart for their struggling offensive line.

Scherff is playing on a franchise tag this season, but has expressed a desire to sign a long-term deal with Washington. While he has been one of the better offensive guards in the league when healthy, he has missed 13 games the past two seasons. In 2018, he missed eight games with a torn pectoral. Last season he missed five games with shoulder and elbow injuries.
