Both Trent Williams and the Redskins have much to consider during stare down contest


For the first time in 10 years, the Redskins will likely open training camp without left tackle Trent Williams. He’s expected to extend his spring holdout into the start of camp on Thursday, when Washington gathers for the first of 22 mandatory summer practices in Richmond, Va.

A seven-time Pro Bowler and the highest-paid non-quarterback on the Redskins’ roster, Williams is as aggrieved as he is accomplished. What exactly he’s upset about is up for debate, mostly because the previously accessible lineman has remained silent all offseason.

In early June, CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reported that Williams was “upset” over how the team had handled a serious medical situation he dealt with.
