Big Freedia and Miss Vanje Are Crashing the Small Screen (Not Together, Sadly)

The production company behind RuPaul’s Drag Race is ready to teach the children. World of Wonder announced new unscripted programming premiering this month, including projects from Big Freedia and Drag Race alum Miss Vanje and Kameron Michaels, as Deadline reports. If you haven’t already sprung for the WOW Presents Plus app, it may be time to pony up or find yourself a password. Miss Vanessa Vanje Mateo famously does not take “no” for an answer.

Among the lineup is Freedia Got a Gun, a documentary from New Orleans Bounce pioneer Big Freedia. The doc, which premiered at film festicals last year and won the Award for Freedom at Outfest, follows the queer artist’s personal experience with gun violence. Freedia speaks about losing her younger brother and a cousin to deadly shootings, and the gun violence epidemic’s deep roots and impact on her hometown.

“I have a platform and I need to use it as much as I can,” Freedia says in the trailer. The doc will hit WOW Presents Plus on May 19.

Also on the way is a lighter but likewise essential educational program, Gay Sex Ed, hosted by Vanessa Vanjie Mateo and “Bodybuilder Barbie” Kameron Michaels. Certified sex therapist Dr. Chris Donaghue will offer his expertise on a range of weekly topics pertaining to “all things sex ed from a gay male perspective,” according to Deadline. World of Wonder’s newly announced premieres join the first season of Drag Race Down Under, which debuted May 1, ensuring little interruption to the steady flow of drag queen content streaming directly into our veins.

For those who stick around for what feels like the programming equivalent of delirious after hours, the company also announced How’s Your Head, Queen: RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under, in which Michelle Visage spills tea with each eliminated contestant; Fashion Photo RuView: RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under, in which Raja and Raven “toot or boot” looks from each episode, and Losing Is The New Winning: RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under, in which previous contestants from the first season of Drag Race U.K. will talk about their post-show lives and attempt to cheer up eliminated queens.

Apparently, RuPaul knows we not-so-secretly love mess, because our tea cups runneth over.
