Thoroughbred Daily News reported Thursday that multiple Grade 1 winner Bast has been retired following a minor soft tissue injury.

Trainer Bob Baffert told the TDN’s Jessica Martini that the filly was never lame, but his barn staff noted some minor filling in an ankle. Diagnostics revealed a soft tissue injury that would take at least four months to heal. Bast’s connections opted to retire her for breeding.

Bast, a daughter of Uncle Mo, leaves the track with four wins from six stars, including victories in the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante, Chandelier, and Starlet. She won her 3-year-old debut in the Grade 2 Santa Ynez for owner Baoma Corporation.
