Barcelona: Pedri and Jordi Alba suffer injuries, ruled out for coming games

Barcelona duo Pedri and Jordi Alba will miss their next game after suffering injuries against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

They will join an already large injury list in more unwelcome news for manager Ronald Koeman following their 3-0 defeat to the Bavarian side. The Athletic understands Pedri will be out for a fortnight at least while Alba will be out for around a month.

In a statement, they said: “The first team player Pedri has a quadriceps muscle injury in his left thigh. The player is unavailable for selection and his recovery will dictate his return.”

The 18-year-old started against Bayern, playing the entire game. He has also appeared twice in La Liga this season, on the back of a summer in which he played in both the European Championships and Olympic Games.

On Alba, Barcelona added: “Tests carried out on Wednesday morning on the first team player Jordi Alba show that he has a hamstring injury in his right thigh. The player is unavailable for selection and his recovery will dictate his return.”

Alba was replaced after 74 minutes of the match, by Alejandro Balde, making his first-team debut.
