Avalanche advance to WCF, defeat Blues in 6 games


Darren Helm‘s goal with 5.6 seconds left propelled the Colorado Avalanche past the St. Louis Blues and into their first Western Conference final since 2001-02. Colorado, winning the game 3-2 on Friday night, took the series in six games.

The Avalanche (56-19-7) finished first in the Central Division during the regular season. They swept the Nashville Predators in the first round of the playoffs before defeating the Blues.

The Avalanche will take on the Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference final, with Game 1 starting on May 31 at 8 p.m. ET.
