As NBA talks about restarting, questions abound on options and what really matters


Every time you turn a corner, there’s another corner.

And, another question.

Is Orlando really the best place to resume the NBA season, or just a sop to a broadcast partner, ESPN? And, even if the latter is true, is that a bad thing? Because a healthy broadcast partner is likely going to be both more willing and able to pony up when the next TV deal comes.

Can improvements in both availability of tests and the quality of testing — we are still a long ways away from an actual vaccine for COVID-19 — ameliorate the certain backlash that will come from people around the corner once NBA players and coaches return to the court and have access to daily testing?

How can the league’s owners and the players’ union square the loss of, conservatively, 30 percent of their joint revenues this season without either side asking for more financial concessions or guarantees from the other? How can teams that expect to be at or just above…
