Arsenal transfer news: Calum Chambers joins Aston Villa

Aston Villa have signed Calum Chambers on a permanent deal from Arsenal.

The defender, 27, completed his move to Villa Park on Thursday evening and signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Midlands club.

Chambers said: “It’s a massive club and they’re in a great moment at this moment in time.

“It’s a very exciting place to be and everyone can see that from the outside. Things are happening here and it’s definitely moving in the right direction.

“For me, it was a no-brainer to join a great club. It was the right thing for me to do.”

Chambers moved to Arsenal from Southampton in 2014 and went on to make 122 appearances for the north London club.

The centre-back, who can also play on the right side of defence, has spent time on loan with Middlesbrough and Fulham during his stint at the Emirates.

He also picked up three England senior caps in 2014, along with 22 Under-21 caps.
