Arsenal youngster Gabriel Martinelli has been ruled out of the FA Cup clash with Newcastle after appearing to badly hurt his knee in a freak warm-up injury.

Martinelli was taking part in a pre-match possession drill when his studs looked to get caught in the Emirates turf.

The Brazilian forward saw his knee jolt as a result and was quickly left in a heap on the floor, prompting his team-mates to urge for medical attention.

Club legend Ian Wright noted that the injury looked ‘quite worrying’ during his on-air punditry duties for BBC.

Martinelli was swiftly replaced in the starting line-up by Reiss Nelson, and is now expected to go under assessment by the Gunners.
