Clearview Stables’ Immediate Impact, a half-sister to Breeders’ Cup Classic, Pegasus World Cup and Dubai World Cup winner Arrogate, made her debut on Sunday in the first race at Del Mar. The 2-year-old daughter of Into Mischief, trained like her famous sibling by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert, won by 6 3/4 lengths in the five-filly field.
Ridden by Drayden Van Dyke, Immediate Impact posted a final time of 1:04.72 for 5 1/2 furlongs on the fast main track. She was sent off as the heavy favorite at odds of 1-5.
Both the 2-year-old bay filly and Arrogate are out of the Distorted Humor mare Bubbler, a four-time listed stakes winner in Louisiana and Texas. The tail-female line traces back to six-time Grade 1-winning millionaire Meadow Star, the champion 2-year-old of 1990. Carrying Immediate Impact in utero in the fall of 2016, Bubbler failed to meet her reserve price when bidding stopped at $4.7 million in the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Mixed sale.
Bubbler’s other two foals of racing age include 4-year-old stakes winner Osare (Medaglia d’Oro) and the unraced 3-year-old Boyne Beauty (Giant’s Causeway).
