Angels’ Shohei Ohtani to compete in Home Run Derby


Los Angeles Angels pitcher and designated hitter Shohei Ohtani will be competing in this year’s Home Run Derby, the league announced Friday.

Ohtani has hit 19 home runs this season, along with a batting average of .270 and 61 hits in 64 games. He has started 10 games on the mound for the Angels, with an ERA of 2.70 and 73 strikeouts.

The 2021 Home Run Derby will take place on July 12 at Coors Field, home of the Rockies in Denver, Col., as part of the 91st All-Star Week festivities.
