Los Angeles Angels infielder David Fletcher underwent a procedure on both of his adductors on Tuesday in Philadelphia. Head athletic trainer Mike Frostad said he’ll miss a couple of months, but the team expects Fletcher to return this season.
Fletcher was placed on the injured list on Sunday for the second time this season.
The 27-year-old’s defense has remained strong while playing through pain, but he is only batting .158 over 14 games this season — well below his career average of .278. His offensive production was also down in 2021 when he finished with a .622 OPS and had the second lowest wRC+ in MLB among qualified hitters, according to Fangraphs.
