Andronis captures the spirit of Santorini in its magical hotels

Andronis is one of Santorini’s most renowned hospitality groups with hotels, restaurants and shops as part of its luxury collection. We experienced two of its key properties, each with a distinct style.

The lowdown: Built high on the crest of the cliffs, the cave-like Luxury Suites are spellbinding. Each of the 29 suites is carved into the signature white stone. The balconies, which either come with a pool or a hot tub, overlook the Caldera.

Waking up to breakfast served on the private terrace with panoramic sea views is about as good as it gets.

As the sun goes down and the village begins to twinkle there is a sense of magic.

Arcadia is the contemporary lifestyle option. Named after the mythical home of the god Pan, it was built last year and made for those seeking modern Greek design with lovely Aegean sea views.

Rooms come with private pools and terraces so they are discreet whilst having access to all the amenities of a five star hotel. On site there is a spa, gym, restaurant and yoga area with daily classes.

Location: Both properties are in Oia, the most picturesque village in Santorini famous for magnificent sunsets. The Suites are on the main strip so they are ideally located for late night strolls along the promenade filled with boutique shops, cute restaurants and bars. They also have the benefit of incredible views over the Caldera. Arcadia is set back on a side road offering privacy and idyllic sunset views from its terraces.

Which rooms? The Grand Suite is perfect for couples. A king size bed sits under an arch and looks out onto the veranda with a Jacuzzi. The design is traditional with the emphasis on the curved stone. A stay here feels as if you are hidden away in a secret cave.

At Arcadia, the Sunset Suites have private infinity pools and are spaciously designed with a power shower and double sinks in the bathrooms. Accessories such as woven baskets and wicker chairs give the spaces a fun and fresh style.

What’s on the menu? Lycabettus is billed as one of the world’s most beautiful outdoor dining rooms. It lives up to its reputation with endless ocean views from the cliff edge. Dining under the stars, with every dish beautifully presented, is a wonderfully romantic experience.

Chef Nikos Leivadias is a Santorini veteran and sources his ingredients from around the island. He takes special care to balance Greek cuisine with an innovative fine dining experience. Supper here is one to remember.

At Andronis, Pacman has a beach club vibe with a sprawling infinity pool, sunken bar and restaurant area. There are two menu options; Sushi and Greek. Both are delicious but don’t leave without trying the salt-crusted sea bass. This is a great place for sunset cocktails too.

Is there a spa? Yes. At Arcadia the Evexia Spa is a must for some chill out time. The thorough menu of facials, massages and therapies is centred around Ila products. Wellbeing treatments are made with an emphasis on relaxation and self-care. The relax and rebalance facial will leave your skin glowing.

Also try walks around the Kneipp pool which balances hot and cold water detoxes. For those who like to keep fit, there is a state-of-the-art gym.

Who is it best for? Santorini is one of the world’s most romantic destinations so it is always a hit with couples. However, a trip here with a pal to soak up the beauty will not disappoint.

Anything else I should know? Excellent service is the common theme throughout both properties. The staff here are attentive and warm with a genuine desire to ensure you have a brilliant stay.
