Andreas Christensen injury: Chelsea defender could return for Champions League final – Tuchel

What did Tuchel say?

He said: “Andreas’ (injury) was better than we feared.

“We hope he’ll be back for one of the two Leicester games. It will be a tough one but the season isn’t finished for him hopefully.

“We have a realistic hope that the season is not over for him.”

Do Chelsea have any other injury concerns?

Tuchel’s only other injury concern is Mateo Kovacic who hasn’t played since Chelsea’s 4-1 win over Crystal Palace on April 10 due to a hamstring injury.

Tuchel was hopeful the 27-year-old would return for Chelsea’s game against Fulham earlier this month.

Instead, the Chelsea manager is aiming to have Kovacic available for the FA Cup final on Saturday.

How has Christensen performed for Chelsea under Tuchel?

Christensen’s season has been revitalised since Tuchel became manager in January. The transition to a back three under Tuchel has seen the 25-year-old become a regular figure in the defence.

Chelsea have conceded just seven Premier League goals in the games Christensen has been involved in since February — five of which were in their 5-2 loss to West Brom.

Christensen has also been instrumental in helping Chelsea reach the Champions League final.
