Alexander Zverev sets record straight on relationship with Stefanos Tsitsipas after feud

Zverev and Tsitsipas have previously had a frosty relationship, dating back to 2018 when the recent Olympic champion snubbed the Green after losing to him at the Toronto Masters.

“Today was an absolutely pathetic match, I don’t even think he played well,” the world No 4 said at the time, after losing 3-6 7-6 6-4, igniting a feud between the two.

Zverev also accused the 23-year-old of cheating in a match earlier this year, after Tsitsipas left the court with his bag for a bathroom break.

The German said his opponent was cheating and receiving coaching by text, as Tsitsipas’ dad, also his coach, was seen using his phone during the bathroom break.

Tsitsipas later denied these claims and, when Zverev continued to speak out on his lengthy off-court breaks, branded his rival’s comments the “most ridiculous” thing he heard.
