Beauty Queen closed through the stretch to score a 1 3/4-length debut victory Saturday at Gulfstream Park, becoming multiple Group 1-winning sire Air Force Blue’s first winning offspring.
Palm Beach Racing Partnership’s Beauty Queen, who was also Air Force Blue’s first offspring to race, defeated six 2-year-old fillies in Race 2, a $50,000 maiden claiming race. The Carlos David-trained filly ran 4 1/2 furlongs in :52.86 seconds after encountering traffic on the backstretch.
Air Force Blue, a son of War Front who stands at Ashford Stud in Versailles, Ky., captured the Group 1 Dewhurst at Newmarket, and the G1 Vincent O’Brien National and G1 Phoenix at Curragh during his 2-year-old championship campaign in 2015.
The Florida-bred Beauty Queen, who is out of the Medaglia d’Oro mare Beautiful One, was purchased for $14,000 at the 2019 OBS October sale.
