After leaving game vs. Heat, X-rays on Luka Doncic’s sprained ankle negative

Luka Doncic suffered an ankle injury in the first few minutes of Saturday night’s Dallas Mavericks-Miami Heat game and was declared out for the contest.

The Mavericks star stepped on an opponent’s foot while driving to the basket and rolled his right ankle:

Doncic was initially declared questionable to return, but the team later said he would not return. X-rays on Doncic’s ankle were negative, and he officially has a sprain.

Doncic is in his second season in the league and has taken his game to another level. The 20-year-old guard is averaging 30.4 points, 9.9 rebounds, 9.3 assists and 3.2 threes per game. Dallas entered Saturday with the third-best record in the West.
