After climbing out of a 19-point hole in Game 3, Clippers show that they aren’t done yet


Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue knew he needed to do something about a starting lineup that was putting his team at costly disadvantages before the Mavericks even had to make substitutions.

In Game 1, the Mavericks got off to a 24-12 start in the first 7 minutes, 10 seconds, eventually winning the game by 10 points.

In Game 2, the Mavericks took a 22-13 lead 26 seconds after Luka Doncic subbed out with 6:12 left in the first quarter; the Mavericks ultimately won by six points.

Even in the second halves of Games 1 and 2, the Clippers were getting outplayed after halftime. In Game 1, the Clippers trailed by six when center Ivica Zubac was subbed out for good with only 7:21 left in the third quarter. And in Game 2, a two-point Clippers halftime lead had turned into a 7-point deficit when
