A brother-and-sister cat duo, who spend their days comforting families and staff at a hospice, have been crowned the Cats of the Year 2022.
Jasper and Willow won the judges over with their feline charm and beat hundreds of other cats to the prestigious accolade.
The pair first won the Outstanding Rescue Cat category – which celebrates kitties adopted from animal charities – before they were selected as overall joint National Cat of the Year, by a panel of celebrity judges.
Jasper and Willow will share the trophy and winner’s package, which includes a £200 pet store voucher.
Front of house manager at the hospice, Jackie Manville, said: ‘We are over the moon that Jasper and Willow have been celebrated for the important role they play at the hospice.
‘Since they’ve been with us, they’ve bought comfort to so many people, whether it’s patients, family and friends, or staff.
‘Jasper and Willow really go to show how special rescue cats are, and we’re so proud of them both.’
They follow in the paw prints of last year’s winner Minty – a three-legged cat from Wales who helps six-year-old Connor with severe learning difficulties and medical conditions
The awards are held every year by Cats Protection and aim to celebrate the nation’s pet cats.
And it’s clear current and previous winners have a knack for doing great things within their local communities.
Other category winners for this year include Misty, who was named as the Most Caring Cat, for helping a teenager cope after an illness which left her unable to walk for two years.
While Marley picked up the Cat Colleagues category, for his role in a team at a day centre for adults with learning disabilities.
Likewise, Chicken won the Furr-ever Friends award, for sharing an amazing bond with an 11-year-old autistic boy who suffers with anxiety.
Congratulations to these exceptional pair who are doing wonderful things.
