Actor Adam Scott faced ridicule on Wednesday after he asked Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and his reelection campaign to stop using his image on social media.
“Dear Mitch McConnell & all those representing him,” the former “Parks and Recreation” star tweeted.
“Please refrain from using my image in support of anything but your own stunning & humiliating defeat. Thanks!,” he wrote.
Mr. Scott was responding to a tweet by Team Mitch, which runs the Republican senator’s campaign, after it tweeted a GIF of the actor celebrating in a scene from “Parks and Recreation.”
The GIF was in reaction to an interview President Trump gave to The Hill on Monday where he said he would “of course” make a nomination to the Supreme Court if there’s a vacancy before the 2020 presidential election.

Team Mitch snarkily responded to Mr. Scott’s request by tweeting a fake newspaper clipping from “Parks and Recreation” that detailed his character’s embarrassing stint in politics.

This is not the first time someone from “Parks and Recreation” has demanded their image not be used politically, The Hollywood Reporter noted.
Last year, show creator Michael Schur demanded the NRA take down a tweeted GIF of Amy Poehler’s character, Leslie Knope. Ms. Poehler and Nick Offerman, who played Nick Swanson, later supported Mr. Schur’s request. The NRA never took down the tweet.
