Adam Scott: 'It's better' for Presidents Cup if Tiger Woods is playing captain

Woods has stated that his inclusion as a player in the event will come from unanimous agreement among the eight players who automatically qualified for the American team. Getting the popular vote there doesn’t seem like a difficult task. To escape any sort of criticism or second-guessing, though, Woods himself will need to play more competitive golf. The 43-year-old recently had arthroscopic knee surgery and will only play a few times between now and the Cup.

Is that enough? Scott seemed to speak for us all. “It’s hard to know exactly where Tiger’s at with everything,” Scott told Gray. “When he wins the Masters you think he’s going to win another five majors straightaway, and then right now we don’t know exactly how his health is.”

Woods will play in the inaugural ZoZo Championship in late October, as well as the 4-man Japan Skins match earlier that week. He’ll then finalize his team with four captain’s picks on Nov. 4, about one month prior to the Presidents Cup taking place in Australia.
