Actress Danielle Brooks Teams Up With DoorDash To Celebrate Hooper’s Store Collection

DoorDash has recently partnered with Grammy Award-Winning, Emmy, Tony Nominated Actress, Producer, and mother, Danielle Brooks. They are celebrating the launch of the newest collaboration of Sesame Workshop, the educational nonprofit behind Sesame Street that brings everyone’s favorite neighborhood store to life.

The nonprofit behind Sesame Street is a community built on diversity, equity, and inclusion, where creators, educators, partners, and unforgettable characters come together on a mission to help kids grow smarter, stronger, and kinder.

“As a mom to a toddler, this seemed like a perfect partnership for me as we order our favorites on DoorDash and watch Sesame Street together,” Brooks said. “The fact that it’s also connected to adding good into the world definitely left me with no hesitation to support this campaign.

DoorDash is donating 100 percent of net proceeds from Hooper’s Store to Sesame Workshop to support their global educational media and social impact programs. The proceeds will be used to fund various Sesame Workshop’s efforts through programming, educational content, or on-the-ground efforts.

The Mission And Its Impact

Sesame Workshop is a nonprofit organization with a mission to help kids everywhere grow smarter, stronger, and kinder. What began as a simple yet revolutionary idea in 1969, to teach kids through television, has grown into a global phenomenon, reaching more than 150 countries and delivering proven, research-based early education to kids and families worldwide.

When asked how Ms. Brooks connected with them, she answered, “They reached out to me, and I’m glad they did because it’s so refreshing to know that these two companies that I support through my own dollars and through ample screen time are doing the work to give back to those in need.”

Sesame Workshop provides support, resources, and programs towards autism, financial empowerment, gender equity, health, etc. According to the Sesame Workshop website, 31 million children worldwide have been forcibly displaced, and millions have no access to early education. They also report that children who watched Sesame Street while growing up have a 16% higher GPA in high school than their peers.

Children living in poverty have higher absenteeism or leave school altogether because they are more likely to work or care for family members. In addition, dropout rates of 16 to 24-years-old students from low-income families are seven months behind in their education, especially due to the pandemic.

“It’s going to take everyone doing their part to help keep kids motivated,” said Ms. Brooks. “Money isn’t always the saving grace; although it definitely does help, it takes all of us. Like the old school phrase says, ‘It takes a village to raise a child.’ But when it comes to education, Sesame Street has been leading the charge for years. What I love about Sesame Street is that they don’t just keep your child entertained and educated in their primary years, but they care about their futures as well.”

DoorDash and The Collection

The Fall Favorites Sesame Street collection marks the second time DoorDash has brought the iconic Hooper’s Store to the DoorDash platform via a virtual storefront in-app, expanding upon DoorDash’s The Neighborhood campaign to offer fans exclusive swag.

Featuring everyone’s favorite Sesame Street Muppets, the collection includes shoe charms, pencil pouches, stickers, and face masks are also featured.

DoorDash’s multi-platform marketing campaign was originally brought to life in a 60-second TV spot during the Superbowl in February 2021. Titled “The Neighborhood,” the campaign reinforces DoorDash’s mission to grow and empower local economies and unveils new brand messaging around deliveries of neighborhood favorites beyond food, highlighting the breadth of DoorDash use cases and platform categories like restaurants and convenience.

However, what makes the Hooper’s Store Fall Favorites collection exciting is that all of these items are exclusive-to-DoorDash, and you can’t find them anywhere else.

“The collection includes so many cozy, custom items,” Brooks described. “I personally loved the Sesame Street sweater for adults, and Freeya (her daughter) was a huge fan of the stickers!”

Going beyond the collection itself, Ms. Brooks shared why the entire initiative resonates with her.

“Whehter you are directly impacted by matters like financial difficulties, limited access to educational or other important resources, or have suffered from difficult experiences,” she explained. “It’s all of our civic duty to find a way to lend a helping hand. I think the world would be a much better place if we did that, and this is the type of support that I want to instill in my daughter as she grows older. So I’m glad DoorDash and Sesame Workshop created this collection to provide exciting items for fans and families and support programs that empower the next generation of leaders.

Hooper’s Store is available in 20 U.S. markets, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Phoenix, Dallas, Philadelphia, Seattle, Nashville, Tampa, Columbus, and Denver while supplies last.
