A tale of two ties: Terry Fontenot accepts challenges ahead as Falcons’ GM


Terry Fontenot was a fifth-year senior at Tulane when he was approached about an opportunity he knew he couldn’t pass up. The New Orleans Saints were looking to hire interns, and Fontenot wanted a spot. He put his résumé together and set up an interview for the internship. But Fontenot had a problem: He didn’t have a tie to wear to the interview.

Quickly, he stopped by a Dillard’s at the Lakeside Shopping Center. He picked out a tie but fumbled with it a bit as he stood in the store attempting to tie it. He was having quite a time of it, apparently, because a lady who worked there approached him to offer him her assistance. She tied the tie just right for Fontenot. And just as quickly as he entered the story, he left on his way to an interview that would set him on a path to success.
