‘A Special Horse For Us’: Dream Tree Confirmed In Foal To Curlin

Grade 1 winner Dream Tree has been confirmed in-foal to Hall of Famer and prominent sire Curlin, BloodHorse reports.

It’s the first mating for Dream Tree, who retired last year with five wins in seven starts for earnings of $529,845.

The 5-year-old daughter of Uncle Mo’s notable victories included the Grade 1 Starlet Stakes, the G2 Las Virgenes Stakes and Prioress Stakes, and the listed Desi Arnaz Stakes. She raced for owner Phoenix Thoroughbreds.

“Dream Tree has been a special horse for us,” Phoenix Thoroughbreds head of U.S. operations Tom Ludt said in a statement. “She had a great will to win and was a true athlete. Considering her bloodlines, coupled with her race record, I see no reason she won’t be a top-quality broodmare. By sending her to a leading stallion such as Curlin we have given her the best chance of making a great start to her new career.”

Curlin, a 16-year-old son of Smart Strike, stands at Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms in Lexington, Ky., for an advertised fee of $175,000.

His most successful runners to date include champions Vino Rosso, Exaggerator, Good Magic, and Stellar Wind, along with Belmont Stakes winner Palace Malice and classic-placed runners Keen Ice, Irish War Cry, and Tenfold.
