That was Jon Gruden’s description Monday afternoon of the fourth-and-1 stop that iced the win over the Panthers on Sunday. With 1:23 left and the Raiders up, 34-30, Carolina tried to catch the Raiders off guard by quickly handing the ball to fullback Alex Armah instead of star running back Christian McCaffrey, and the Raiders stuffed him. 

“The guys did a great job executing the call,” defensive coordinator Paul Guenther said in a phone interview Monday. “We had a pretty good feel of what the play was going to be. As a coach, I get more nervous Wednesdays through Fridays that I am showing them the right stuff. But it’s a tribute to the guys studying and making the play.”
