A house ‘frozen in time’ with 1970s wallpaper, carpets and curtains is on the market for £170,000

From mid-century sideboards to Art Deco bar carts, we often like to nod back to interior trends of the past.

However, a three-bed terraced house in Erdington takes this to new extremes.

In many ways, the property is frozen in time – having been totally untouched since the 1970s.

The result is a ‘time capsule’ house that features vintage wallpaper, patterned carpets, pink ceilings and floral curtains from five decades ago.

Essentially, any 70s interior cliché you can think of will be inside this Birmingham house.

But the best part is that from the outside, you’d never have any idea.

Despite the dated decor, the house has gone on the market for £170,000.

While this figure is under the average terraced house price for Birmingham (which is around £198,000), it’s worth pointing out that any new owners must be willing to give the home a total refurbishment – as it’s in dire need of some TLC.

The property is an excellent size for a family – with an entrance hallway, lounge, dining room, kitchen, first floor bathroom, three bedrooms and a rear garden.

It’s also a short distance from Gravelly Hill train station and Brookvale Park, and nearby schools include Slade Primary and Spring Hill High School.

Speaking about the house, located on Hillaries Road, estate agents Dixons said: ‘This three bedroom mid terraced property in need of modernisation is close to local amenities and public transport links.’

Elsewhere in the world of property, a Victorian gothic mansion in California is up for sale at $1.89million – and is perfect for Beetlejuice fans.

Also in California, a minimalist house in the middle of a desert has gone on sale for $1.75million.

The property market is bursting with something for everyone at the moment.
