“The reset” is the time before a show when the theatre becomes a hive of backstage buzz, as cast and crew ensure everything is in order before the audience take their seats. A new exhibition explores this process, with photographers Laura McCluskey, Max Miechowski and Callum Su invited to document the three hours between 4.30pm and the evening performances at the National Theatre. “It opened up my mind to what is actually involved,” says McCluskey, whose photos are displayed here, “ all the different positions and roles that people have backstage and how those things are brought to life. I found some interesting props out of context, like a tray with fake eggs and sandwiches pushed up against the wall with nuts and bolts. It looked pretty bonkers.”
