Indya Moore Is Going Under Water in the Aquaman Sequel

Indya Moore has officially struck their latest pose. The star of FX’s Pose, which wrapped its final season earlier this year, has landed a major new role in the upcoming DC movie Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom as Karshon, a shark with a surprisingly broad range of superpowers.

The upcoming Aquaman is slated as a sequel to 2018’s Aquaman, which starred Jason Momoa as the aquatic superhero; Amber Heard as Mera, Aquaman’s love interest; and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta.

According to Comicbook.com, Karshon is a shark who originated in the Aquaman comics as a villain to Green Lantern. Through radiation exposure, they gained powers including telepathy and matter manipulation. They can also harness energy.

Moore shared the news story on Instagram alongside several nature shots. (Is this subtle foreshadowing???) “Soooo excited, sooo grateful. This is going to be good. Thank you for welcoming me,” they wrote.

This is Moore’s second major film role post-Pose; the actress is currently starring in the action horror film Escape Room: Tournament of Champions.

However, they’re not the only Pose star keeping busy. Michaele Jaé, coming off a historic Emmy nomination for her role as Blanca in the series, just dropped her debut single, “Something to Say.” She’ll also appear alongside Maya Rudolph in a forthcoming Apple TV+ comedy series.

Several notable names are joining the Aquaman sequel alongside Moorel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jani Zhao will play a new character created for the movie, Stingray. Vincent Regan is joining as Atlan, the ancient ruler of Atlantis. He’s reportedly the reason the city went underwater. Atlan briefly appeared in the first film, played by Graham McTavish. THR reports the first film featured Aquaman locating Atlan’s trident.

It’s unclear how big Moore’s role will be in the film — but no matter how large, we will be watching, and looking out for more big news from one of our favorite actresses working today.
