In 2016, the city of Toronto hosted NBA All-Star Weekend. It remains one of the top highlights of my career. Even though the city tried not to cooperate, offering up record-cold temperatures that froze my beard on a run, the weekend could do no wrong. One of the greatest Slam Dunk Contests of all-time was supplemented with a great social scene, Kobe Bryant’s final All-Star appearance, Drake’s first appearance as a coach and more.
The 2021 All-Star Weekend in Atlanta feels … less cool and fun. Amid a pandemic, with players speaking out about their discomfort with the event, without fans in attendance and the “weekend” compressed into a single event, you’d be forgiven for being less enthused than usual about what’s usually a great couple of days. The players certainly are.
In the spirit of having some fun with the weekend, we decided to test your knowledge of better All-Star events from the past.
