"RuPaul’s Drag Race" Star Raven Just Won Her First Emmy


won in the category of Outstanding Makeup for a Multi-Camera Series or Special (Non-Prosthetic), although it has been nominated every year since 2015. The long-running VH1 competition series has nabbed 17 Emmys in total, including two wins for Outstanding Reality Competition Program.

RuPaul, meanwhile, has earned four consecutive trophies for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program and is heavily favored to win a record fifth award in the category this year, according to the pundits at Gold Derby,

Ahead of this weekend’s socially distanced Emmy ceremony, Drag Race has already added an armful of awards to its ever growing shelf. At the Creative Arts Emmys, the show also scored wins in Outstanding Contemporary Hairstyling for a Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Program; Outstanding Picture Editing for a Structured Reality or Competition Program; and Outstanding Casting for a Reality Program.

But even before she was anointed an Emmy winner, Raven was already a star. The icon currently stars on Fashion Photo Ruview, a web series she co-hosts with season 3 winner Raja.

Raven has also made several guest appearances on Drag Race over the years, recently acting as a Snatch Game mentor for the show’s 12th season.

Elsewhere, Raven was included in Vanity Fair’s 100 Years of Drag Fashion video in 2016, which included drag performers Divine, David Bowie, and her boss, RuPaul. She also won the “Best Lips AKA The Pucker Up Award” at the first annual WOWie Awards in 2017.
