Nick Kyrgios continues Novak Djokovic feud with hilarious gesture at expense of world No 1

Kyrgios is certainly not afraid to share his opinions which has often irked some of the best players in the game.

He traded barbs with Rafael Nadal at the Acapulco Open earlier this year, which set up a fascinating grudge match at Wimbledon.

But the Australian hasn’t stopped at Nadal as he has also taken aim at Djokovic in the past.

He recently labeled the Serbian as “cringe-worthy” for his perceived need to be liked.

“I just feel like he has a sick obsession with wanting to be liked,” Kyrgios told the No Challenges Remaning Podcast.

“He just wants to be like Roger. For me personally — I don’t care right now, I’ve come this far — I feel like he just wants to be liked so much that I just can’t stand him.

“This whole celebration thing [the ‘boob-throwing’ celebration] that he does after matches, it’s like so cringe-worthy. It’s very cringeworthy.

Djokovic has remained relatively tight-lipped on giving a response to Kyrgios’ remarks, although he did give his feelings away by ‘liking’ an Instagram post which quoted John McEnroe declaring the 24-year-old would be a top-five player “if he was able to do it [give honest effort].”

And now Kyrgios has continued the feud while at the Atlanta Open after going over to fans requesting his signature.

One particular fan was wearing a t-shirt bearing Djokovic’s first name emblazoned across the chest and that clearly caught Kyrgios’ attention.

The moment was captured on camera as Kyrgios began scrubbing out Djokovic’s name with a pen.

One of the boys in the video told Kyrgios, “Let him know how you feel.”

And Kyrgios responded by saying, “That’s what I think of you and your shirt.”

The world No 48 was in doubles action at the Atlanta Open, losing in the first round.

But he will continue his preparations for the US Open next week at the Citi Open.

Interesting, Kyrgios will once again play in the doubles but will partner Stefanos Tsitsipas, another player the controversial tennis star has exchanged a war of words with.
