Several of the defendants in a federal case focusing on drug misbranding and the doping of racehorses will be arraigned via teleconference later this week.
The defendants scheduled to be arraigned include Jorge Navarro, Erica Garcia, Marcos Zulueta, Michael Tannuzzo, Gregory Skelton, Ross Cohen, Seth Fishman, Lisa Giannelli, Jordan Fishman, Rick Dane Jr., Christopher Oakes, Jason Servis, Kristian Rhein, Michael Kegley, Jr., Alexander Chan, Henry Argueta, Nicholas Surick, Rebecca Linke, and Christopher Marino.
The teleconference is scheduled for April 2 at 2:30 p.m.
After hearings were postponed or delayed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 crisis, U.S. District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil stated in an order that all listed defendants had waived personal appearance or indicated they would waive appearance at an arraignment, allowing it to more easily take place over the phone.
Vyskocil noted in the order that the court had been advised the discovery in this case was “voluminous” and would take considerable time for both sides to produce and review.
All defendants with racing licenses have seen them suspended in multiple jurisdictions beginning soon after the initial filing of the first federal indictment in early March.
