Hall of Fame jockeys John Velazquez and Angel Cordero have teamed up as jockey and agent since the early 1990’s, but Velazquez confirmed to the Daily Racing Form‘s Marty McGee on Saturday that they have officially parted ways. McGee announced the news on Twitter following the running of the G2 Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream Park.
Velazquez has hired agent Ron Anderson to represent him going forward.
Anderson will continue to handle bookings for jockey Joel Rosario as well. The agent has been based in Southern California this year, and also had handled the book of up-and-coming jockey Umberto Rispoli, currently fourth in the Santa Anita standings.
