This Artist Reimagined Disney Princesses as Criminals in Mugshots, and Their Crimes Are Dark

If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if some of your favorite fairy-tale characters took a trip to the bad side, you have to check out artist J. Shari Ewing’s collection of Disney princess mugshots. The series showcases a darker but highly entertaining reimagining of our most chaste childhood heroines doing some very questionable things.

In this alternate universe, which Ewing dubbed the “Land of Fantasy,” 14 Disney princesses have been arrested and placed in a holding cell for their crimes, including Snow White for breaking and entering, Moana for bribery and boat theft, and Elsa for assault and attempted murder.

But the best part about these mugshots? You can buy them! Available in Ewing’s HaaappyAccidents Etsy shop, each giclée mugshot ($15) is printed on archival textured watercolor paper with a hard backing to prevent bending, and features the fallen princesses drawn both in profile and straight on. Keep reading to take a look at Disney’s innocent leading ladies recast as bad girls.
